Project Description
John Hendry Park presently offers numerous programs for a variety of demographics with playgrounds, sports fields, walking trails and more for recreation. However there is not currently a space in the park that is specially curated for those who are deaf or hearing impaired. This project seeks to redesign a section of the park bordering Trout Lake to include features that allow for greater engagement and create a more welcoming space for those with hearing impairments.
This project was started in January 2023 for the Landscape Architecture Studio II at the University of British Columbia (UBC), with direction from Daniel Roehr, UBC Professor, and Maren McBride, Associate at PWL Partnership.
